First launch on Mac
The Mac build is not code-signed yet (that arrives with an Apple Developer account), so macOS asks once before it opens:
- Open the
.dmgand drag Ayah Editor into Applications. - In Applications, right-click the app, choose Open, then confirm with Open.
- If macOS still refuses: System Settings, Privacy & Security, find "Ayah Editor was blocked" and click Open Anyway.
You only do this once. Afterwards the app opens like any other.
Your first export
The first export downloads the video encoder once, about 100 MB. Everything else (the mushaf, translations and themes) is bundled and works fully offline.
There is no account. Projects, footage and renders never leave your computer; the app sends only anonymous usage stats, which you can turn off.
Updates
On Windows, the Microsoft Store installs updates for you. On a Mac, the app checks for a newer release when it starts and tells you; it never installs anything by itself. Download the new .dmg from this page and replace the app in Applications.
Other downloads
Every build, including a plain Windows installer (.exe), is on the GitHub releases page.
Use the Microsoft Store version on Windows if you can. The plain installer is not code-signed, so SmartScreen warns on first run, and on PCs with Smart App Control turned on Windows can silently block the video encoder, which breaks export.
